Balti city to enjoy modern heating system with support of top European bank
Over 22,000 apartments from the Balti municipality will benefit from a horizontal distribution system for thermal energy and hot water, following the ratification by parliament of an amendment to the loan agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
It is about the Amendment No. 1 to the Loan Agreement for the implementation of the project, Thermal Energy System of Balti Municipality, phase II. The amendment provides for the redistribution of the unutilized amount of 1.5 million euros from the component intended for repaying the historical gas debt towards the modernization of the thermal energy infrastructure.
According to the authorities, the new measures will contribute to improving the quality of services for residents by rehabilitating the hot water delivery system and ensuring thermal comfort in buildings.
Also, the aim is to enhance the energy efficiency of the CET-Nord stock company, reduce CO₂ emissions and decrease the impact on climate change.
Additionally, the availability period of the financing has been extended till December 31, 2027.
