Earthquake of magnitude 4.2 recorded in the Vrancea region of Romania; quake felt in Moldova too

An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was recorded in the Vrancea region of Romania today morning at 10.23. The quake was also felt in Moldova.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 90.0 km. It took place near the following cities: 41km NW of Focsani, 72km E of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 78km S of Bacau, 80km N of Buzau, 83km SW of Barlad, and 89km E of Brasov.

In October, approximately 20 earthquakes were recorded in Romania, with magnitudes ranging from 2 to 4 on the Richter scale.

The largest quakes this year, both 4.4 in magnitude, occurred in February in the Buzau County of Romania and in May in the Vrancea county. Last year, the most significant earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 and occurred in the Buzau County of Romania in September.
