Increasing salaries, pensions, benefits - priority for new Government
Raising salaries, pensions and benefits, especially for families with children are among the priorities of the new Cabinet of Ministers. Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu stated today in Parliament that this can be achieved by strengthening economic growth, and the state budget project for next year will include concrete steps to ensure the well-being of all our country's citizens.
He noted that robust economic growth can be ensured through increased budget revenues and attracting investments.
“The Republic of Moldova has gone through many shocks. The shock economy phase is pretty much over. Foundations have been laid, and we have all the ingredients to improve the situation without shocks. Economic growth means higher budget revenues. Just like in a family, when taxpayers’ salaries increase, they have more money for payments. Moreover, if we manage to attract investments, that means taxes, payments, more dynamism,” stated Alexandru Munteanu.
Additionally, the official assured that the budget project for the next year will incorporate concrete steps to ensure citizens' well-being.
“We have developed an action plan for the next steps of the Government. We will present the budget project as soon as possible, and you will see the steps we are taking. We cannot do everything overnight, but we would like to see concrete steps in next year’s budget project that will ensure the well-being of all parties, especially vulnerable categories of society, budget employees, doctors, teachers, and pensioners,” noted Alexandru Munteanu.
In the activity program of the new Government, the priority of doubling the minimum wage to 10,000 lei in the coming years and increasing the average salary to at least 25,000 lei, compared to the current 16,000 lei, has been introduced.
Meanwhile, Natalia Plugaru, nominated for the position of Minister of Labor and Social Protection, stated that in the coming years, several actions will be implemented to support families with children, including the extension of the monthly child allowance, increasing the number of nursery places, and supporting families with children with disabilities.
“It remains a priority for this government to continue caring for each citizen, especially families with young children, as has been done in the past four years when the monthly allowance for child care was introduced for the first time, and the single birth allowance increased. In the next few years, we aim to extend the monthly allowance to cover more families who need support. An important aspect will be increasing nursery places, reaching five thousand slots, so that women and couples can return to the labor market faster. We will focus on families with children with disabilities to enhance the quality of services, ensuring that each citizen, each family, each child, each mother, and father knows that the social domain program supports them,” declared Natalia Plugaru.
Munteanu went to Parliament today to seek the MPs’ confidence vote, presenting the activity program of the new Government and governmental team.
