President Maia Sandu met in Dublin with Moldovans settled in Ireland. They discussed support measures for Moldovan citizens abroad and our country’s European path.

The official thanked the citizens for their work and honesty, through which they have become the best ambassadors of our country.

“Last night I had the joy of meeting Moldovans who have settled in Ireland. I came with good news: together with the Irish Government we signed an agreement on the mutual recognition of driving licences – a concrete step through which we support our citizens here. We also addressed the issue of a social protection agreement, to ensure that the years worked in Ireland and in Moldova will be reflected in pensions. We talked about what concerns them and about how we are building Europe at home. I am grateful that, through their work and honesty, Moldovans in Ireland are the best ambassadors of our country and supporters of our European path,” said Maia Sandu.

Head of State Maia Sandu paid an official visit to Ireland yesterday. The agenda included meetings with President Catherine Connolly and Prime Minister Micheál Martin. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova, in the context of Ireland taking over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2026.
