Spokesman for government says Moldova's cabinet supports continuous growth of people's incomes

The government supports the need to continuously increase people's incomes and does so in a responsible way for the public budget. The government's spokesperson, Daniel Voda, today made statements to this effect, in the context of the request from the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CNSM) and the National Employers' Confederation of Moldova (CNPM) to increase the minimum wage to 6,000 lei.

Daniel Voda emphasized that, over the past three years, the minimum wage had increased from 2,935 lei to 5,500 lei—a growth of 87 per cent, which is the largest in the country's history.

“The minimum wage increases annually, on January 1st. In 2025, it has already been increased to 5,500 lei. A similar situation was noted with the average salary, which rose from 9,116 lei in 2021 to 16,100 lei, forecast for 2025,” noted the government’s spokesperson.

CNSM and CNPM today demanded an increase of the minimum wage to 6,000 lei, starting from July 1, 2025. The request was formulated in a joint letter addressed to the Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
