Travel alert for Catania following increased activity of Mount Etna

Moldovan citizens who are in the city of Catania, Italy, or who are planning a trip to this area are warned about the increased activity of Mount Etna. In this context, people are urged to follow official information and the recommendations of the authorities.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Italy, the authorities have raised the alert level in connection with the eruptive activity of Mount Etna.

“We recommend that citizens who are going to travel to Catania check the flight status in advance with their airline, and those who are already in the area should follow the warnings and instructions of the local authorities and monitor the official information regarding the evolution of the situation,” the embassy announced.

With an altitude of 3,324 meters, Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and has erupted frequently over the last 500,000 years.
