Moldova to receive 150 million euros from European Investment Bank for roads' modernization

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, on the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership Summit, today signed, on behalf of Moldova’s government and in the presence of President Maia Sandu, a contract on financing with the European Investment Bank (EIB), within which Moldova will receive a loan worth up to 150 million euros for the carrying out of the Moldova Roads IV Project.    

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the signing of the contact on financing is the result of the negotiations held by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu and officials of the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry.   

„We choose a concrete financing for good roads with the support of European partners, which help for the development of the infrastructure network and connectivity, with long-term benefits both for the local communities and the economic agents, which will be able to carry goods quicker and more efficiently,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.  

More than 150 km of roads will be rehabilitated, modernized and extended and feasibility studies and the project documentation for other segments of priority national roads will be elaborated within the project.
