Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will become full-fledged member state of the European Union and to prepare the country, we will increase the European support even more in the years to come. European MP Siegfried Muresan today made statements to this effect, in the context of the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

The European official underlined that the Association Agreement with the European Union, signed ten years ago, had strengthened Moldova’s economy and brought concrete benefits to the people of Moldova.

„Two thirds of the Moldovan exports now go to the European Union’s market and the European products are found on markets of Moldova easier and at lower prices. Moldova can buy natural gas at advantageous prices along with other European countries,’’ Siegfried Muresan said.

The official noted that, ten years after the signing of the Association Agreement, we entered together a new stage: negotiations on accession to the European Union.

„EU makes available to Moldova non-refundable European funds for the modernization of kindergartens, schools, for the compensation of invoices for energy, for backing small entrepreneurs and for other measures of support with direct impact on people’s well-being,’’ Siegfried Muresan stressed.

The Moldova-EU Association Agreement was signed on 27 June 2014 and was ratified in the Moldovan parliament’s plenum on 2 July 2024. The European Parliament ratified the Association Agreement at the plenary meeting on 13 November 2014; as many as 535 MEPs voted for the document’s ratification, 94 European lawmakers voted against and 44 MPs abstained.
