Governors of central banks from Moldova, North Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzegovina in dialogue in Sarajevo

The heads of central banks from North Macedonia and Bosnia & Herzegovina commended the progress of Moldova in the process of European integration, particularly appreciating its accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). The congratulatory messages were conveyed to Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Anca Dragu in Sarajevo.

"Moldova's accession to SEPA is the result of a joint effort by state institutions and dedicated teams who believed in the European future of Moldova. I am pleased that, from now on, Moldovan citizens, diasporic families and the business community will be able to make fast and secure payments in the European area at very low, even free, costs. This is a change that brings Europe closer to each citizen and Moldova fully deserves this future," Anca Dragu emphasized.

The discussions also focused on expanding collaboration between the region's central banks through the exchange of best practices in financial innovation and in professional training for financial education and inclusion.

The governors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and continuing the dialogue within international platforms on financial education, inclusion and sustainable economic resilience, including through the initiatives of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development/International Network on Financial Education (OECD/INFE).

The meeting took place in the context of Governor Anca Dragu's participation in the OECD/INFE Annual Meeting.
