VIDEO // Prime Minister at National Forum of Labour Market and Social Dialogue
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu took part today in National Forum of the Labour Market and Social Dialogue, held in Chișinău. The event brought together representatives of the business community, trade unions, international organizations and experts for a dialogue on the measures needed to develop a more competitive, more inclusive labour market aligned with European standards.
In his speech, the Prime Minister spoke about the need to increase labour productivity in the Republic of Moldova and emphasized that this challenge must be seen as an opportunity for modernization and development. According to the official, boosting the efficiency and competitiveness of the economy is essential for higher wages, better jobs and a higher standard of living.
“Every problem is also an opportunity. We must think about how to become more efficient and more competitive. Technology does not replace us, but compels us to be better, more adaptable and better prepared. For the Republic of Moldova, the stake is clear: not only to keep pace with changes, but to use them to our advantage,” said Munteanu.
In this regard, the Government aims to bring more citizens into the labour market, reduce informal work, including through digitalization and simplification of procedures, eliminate existing barriers in the labour market, and contribute to improving the quality of the workforce. The measures are intended to develop a more productive economy in which people have access to stable and better-paid jobs.
The Forum includes discussions on the National Employment and Undeclared Work Combating Program for 2027–2031, active employment measures, integration of vulnerable people into the labour market, increasing productivity and strengthening social dialogue in the context of the European commitments of the Republic of Moldova.
