3.2 billion lei allocated for road rehabilitation in Moldova
An unprecedented budget - 3.2 billion lei will be allocated this year for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of roads in the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement at a press conference at the Government.
According to the Prime Minister, in 2025, 600 kilometers of roads will be constructed and modernized. For regional roads, 2.7 billion lei will be available through the Road Fund, and an additional 500 million has been included in the PLUS Budget for local roads.
'This is the largest amount of money ever allocated in the Republic of Moldova for road infrastructure in one year. The reality of the last 30 years shows us that we need another half century to build all the roads ourselves. Joining the European Union, on the other hand, offers us development funds in a short time, as we see roads being built in European states. The future of our villages and cities is on one path: to become EU members,' said the Prime Minister.
The official said that in the last 3 years, investments have been made to improve road quality, with 766 km of roads renovated - 3 times more than in the previous 10 years. The Government's efforts will continue through major road rehabilitation projects: Soroca-Otaci, Hîncești – Leușeni, Hîncești - Leova – Cantemir, bypasses of Vulcănești and Slobozia Mare localities, segments between Brăila and Băcioi, Chișinău, Bulboaca to Hîrbovăț, Sîngerei – Rădoaia, Colibași – Vulcănești, road segments from Leova to Leușeni, and Iași–Ungheni-Chișinău highway.
'Most of these roads have never been repaired since independence and most of them have never had asphalt paving. We will continue to invest in infrastructure, seek financial resources to transform Moldova into a construction and development site. Because only with care for localities and people, Moldova Can,' declared Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
We mention that through the PLUS Budget, an additional 1 billion lei has been included in the Road Fund means, so 2.7 billion lei are available in the Fund. In this regard, the Road Fund Council, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, approved the amendment to the Program on distribution of public national road funds for 2025.
The amendment to the Program on distribution of road fund means for national public roads for 2025 is to be approved by Government decision, and subsequently, the State Road Administration (ASD) will publish information about the road sections that will be rehabilitated.
