Moldova celebrates World Children's Day
World Children's Day is marked today in the Republic of Moldova. On this occasion, the authorities have prepared several activities that will take place in the capital and throughout the country's localities.
On 1 June, children, along with their families, are invited to the State Residence in Condrița, starting from 11:00 AM. The childhood celebration will take place in a natural setting and will bring together educational, cultural, and recreational activities.
Several thematic areas will be set up across the territory. The 'Bon Appétit' zone will offer a selection of snacks, including Moldovan pies, ice cream, cotton candy, and other traditional products. In the 'Joyful Courtyard', children can participate in educational workshops, recycling activities, tree planting, painting, and interactive experiments. In the 'Rescue Mission' area, children will witness demonstrations of special vehicles and technical equipment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, interact with intervention teams, and take part in thematic games alongside firefighters.
Also at the event, children will be able to participate in guided tours through the forest, in the 'Explorers' Trail' area, where they will be accompanied by foresters and specialists from the Moldsilva Agency. Training sessions on waste sorting, as well as the importance of recycling and reusing, will be organized.
A special attraction will be workshops by folk craftsmen, where children can discover traditional crafts. At the 'Story Cinema,' films and animations for the whole family will be shown, and visitors will enjoy various artistic moments.
For a comfortable conduct of activities, participants are encouraged to bring blankets for relaxation on the green spaces and to use insect repellent due to the forested area's specific conditions.
Also today, the 'Childhood Train' will be launched, a special journey dedicated to the youngest passengers.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) together with the Railway of Moldova (CFM) launches the 'Childhood Train' – a special journey dedicated to the youngest passengers on World Children's Day.
On 1 June, Chisinau Railway Station becomes the starting point of an unforgettable experience, where children will discover the joy of a train ride. On board the train, the young passengers will enjoy interactive shows, games with animators, sweet surprises, symbolic gifts, and many smiles. Children up to the age of 12, accompanied by at least one adult, will participate. The proposed route is Chisinau – Ghidighici – Chisinau (≈ 1 hour).
In 2022, the Government drafted the National Child Protection Program 2022-2026. It provides measures to reduce poverty, adopt zero tolerance to violence, integrate institutionalized children into families, and mitigate the effects of parental migration on children.
The event is celebrated in accordance with the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1959.
