Education Minister: This year marked by significant progress in education

Another school year has come to an end—a year filled with hard work, challenges and changes. It has been a journey traveled together, in which everyone has contributed to the progress of education in the Republic of Moldova. Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun made the statement.

"First of all, congratulations to all students for the effort, curiosity and perseverance with which they participated in every lesson. To those about to take the high school exams and the Baccalaureate, I wish you courage and confidence in your own abilities. To high school graduates, who are concluding an important chapter and preparing to embark on university studies, I wish you inspiration in choosing the right path. I encourage you to opt for an institution in our country and choose to study in Moldova," Perciun said.

According to the head of MEC, this year has been marked by significant progress in the education.

"We have recorded a record number of young teachers hired—407 new specialists, 15% more than last year; teacher salaries have been increased in two stages, by up to 20%, and the highest teaching degree no longer needs to be reconfirmed periodically; the Model Schools Network is expanding: new funding was approved in May, and in the coming years, up to 90 institutions will benefit from investments; we have reduced bureaucracy and provided teachers and educators with more time dedicated to students; for the first time, we launched a remedial math program, and middle school graduates benefited from dozens of free hours to prepare for exams; we have invested significant resources in renovating educational institutions—from kindergartens to universities," explains Dan Perciun.

The minister thanked everyone who was part of this effort: teaching staff, parents, headmasters and system employees. Your work is reflected in every progress and achievement of your students.

"We know that transformations don't happen overnight, but we have a clear objective: a more equitable, accessible, and better adapted education to the real needs of children and young people. Enjoy your holidays! And to those who still have exams to take—good luck!" he said.

In the Republic of Moldova, the school year ends on 31 May.
