Moldovan president has discussions with foreign affairs ministers of Switzerland, Norway, Delegate Minister for European Affairs of France

President Maia Sandu received Ignazio Cassis, Vice President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide, Foreign Affairs Minister of Norway and Benjamin Haddad, Delegate Minister for European Affairs of France in Chisinau today.

The discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, Moldova's EU accession process, the regional situation and global geopolitical developments, in a context where strengthening partnerships with European states – in order to ensure the security and prosperity of citizens and to advance on the path of European integration – is a priority for the Moldovan president.

During the meetings, Maia Sandu reaffirmed her commitment to ongoing reforms, the country’s modernization and the increasingly active role of Moldova as a provider of security in the region.

The ministers are in Chisinau to participate in the 135th Ministerial Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, hosted by Moldova on May 14-15, in the context of the country holding the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe starting from November 2025 till May 2026. The event brings together over 50 delegations from member states, including more than 20 foreign ministers. The Swiss official is also visiting Chisinau in his capacity of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, accompanied by the organization’s Secretary General, Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu.
