Moldovan president has meeting with delegation of UK Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee
President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament, on an official visit to Chisinau. The delegation was led by Emily Thornberry, Chair of the Committee, and included MPs Alex Ballinger, Uma Kumaran and Edward Morello.
During the discussions, they sides addressed topics related to the democratic resilience of Moldova, strengthening the state's institutions against attempts of disinformation and external interference, as well as the lessons other countries can learn from Moldova’s experience in ensuring election integrity.
President Maia Sandu emphasized the importance of the close cooperation with the United Kingdom in such areas as cybersecurity, combating disinformation and illicit financing. She noted that the British support had significantly contributed to enhancing the capacities of responsible institutions.
The head of state expressed her gratitude for this support and reiterated the wish to further deepen the bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, in order to strengthen resilience, security and the European path of Moldova.
