Moldovan parliament's delegation participates in summer session of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe
The Moldovan parliament’s delegation takes part in the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), held in Strasbourg, France, on June 22-26, this year.
The delegation includes Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman, the head of the national delegation to PACE, MP Ion Groza, as well as the delegation members: MPs Veronica Rosca, Andrian Cheptonar, Natalia Davidovici and Igor Dodon.
The session’s agenda includes debates on current issues, among which protecting democracy from disruptions caused by artificial intelligence, combating transnational repression and the situation of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Iran.
At the same time, an urgent debate has been requested on monitoring the Chisinau Declaration in the field of migration. The document was adopted during the annual session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in May 2026, held under the presidency of Moldova, and addresses migration management in relation to the rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights.
In addition, parliamentarians will examine reports concerning the silencing of critical voices in Azerbaijan, the working of democratic institutions in Georgia and Serbia, press freedom in sport, combating gender stereotypes in the media, violent pornography as a challenge to human rights, as well as migrants’ and refugees’ access to healthcare.
The agenda also includes debates on food sustainability in crisis situations, reports on the observation of recent elections in Hungary and Bulgaria, as well as possible urgent debates on women’s access to justice, the right to education in Gaza, the judicial system in Turkey and the situation of Jimmy Lai, who has been detained in Hong Kong since 2020.
