Preliminary results of 17 May local elections // First-round victories in six localities and tight race in Orhei municipality
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has published the preliminary results of the new local elections held on May 17 for the position of mayor in the municipality of Orhei and for the election of a new composition of the local council in the village of Copceac, Gagauzia.
8,818 voters took part in the election in Orhei municipality, which represents a turnout of 34.36%. The highest number of votes was obtained by the independent candidate Ramiz Ansarov, who received 2,020 votes, the equivalent of 23.14%.
In second place was the candidate of the Political Party League of Cities and Communes, Sergiu Aga, with 1,705 votes (19.53%), followed by the independent candidate Vasile Adașan, who obtained 1,623 votes (18.59%). The independent candidate Diana Memeț received 1,341 votes (15.36%), while the PAS candidate, Sergiu Stanciu, obtained 1,311 votes (15.02%). The PSRM representative, Stanislav Balan, received 482 votes (5.52%). In the village of Copceac, Gagauzia, where elections were held for a new composition of the local council, 2,360 voters went to the polls, representing 31.13% of all eligible voters.
According to the preliminary results, the largest number of votes was obtained by the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, which received 314 votes (13.46%). Among the independent candidates, the best results were recorded by Curdov Dmitri – 189 votes (8.10%), Stamat Leonid – 172 votes (7.38%), and Baboglo Nicolai – 154 votes (6.60%).
The CEC announces that in several localities the mayors were elected in the first round. In the village of Plop, Dondușeni district, the PAS candidate, Gheorghe Panfil, obtained 68.88% of the votes, receiving 374 ballots. In Frumușica, Florești district, the candidate of the "Respect Moldova Movement" party, Igor Groza, won the election with 60% of the votes, the equivalent of 291 votes. In the village of Mașcăuți, Criuleni district, the only registered candidate, Aurelia Morărescu, supported by PAS, received 100% of the votes, that is, 1,057 ballots. Also with a maximum score, Tamara Ciubotaru, the PAS candidate in the village of Topala, Cimișlia district, was elected, having received all 257 votes cast. In the village of Costești, Ialoveni district, the PAS candidate, Grigore Țurcan, won in the first round with 54.40% of the votes, or 1,935 ballots.
In Sărătenii Vechi, Telenești district, the PAS candidate, Igor Anestiade, obtained 50.88% of the votes, receiving 432 ballots and securing the mayoral mandate.
On Sunday, May 17, new local elections for the position of mayor were organized in the village of Costești and the commune of Ruseștii Noi in Ialoveni district, the village of Mașcăuți in Criuleni district, the commune of Sărătenii Vechi in Telenești district, the town of Taraclia in Taraclia district, the municipality of Orhei in Orhei district, the village of Topala in Cimișlia district, the village of Plop in Dondușeni district, and the commune of Frumușica in Florești district.
In the village of Copceac, Gagauzia, a new composition of the local council was elected. In the commune of Sadâc, Cantemir district, and the village of Hăsnășenii Mari, Drochia district, local recall referendums for mayors were held.
