
Moldovan president's phone discussion with Romania's president-elect
I am confident that we will continue to strengthen the solid bridges between Chișinău and Bucharest for a secure, free, and prosperous future for the people on both sides of the Prut River. Head of state Maia Sandu conveyed the message today, following a phone conversation with Romania's president-elect Nicușor Dan.

After all the reports from over 20,000 polling stations in Romania and abroad were centralized, Nicușor Dan received 53.60%, while George Simion - 46.40% of the votes.
Over 158,000 Romanians voted at the polling stations in the Republic of Moldova, marking a historic turnout. For comparison, in the first round of Romania's presidential elections, held two weeks ago, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days.
Most voters cast their votes for independent candidate Nicușor Dan, who received 88% or 138,320 votes cast by voters in our country. AUR party candidate George Simion received 18,868 votes cast in our country, or 12%.
Voters from the Republic of Moldova were among the most active in Romania's presidential election, alongside those from countries such as Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Spain.
