Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister meets German Ambassador
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi had a farewell meeting today with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Margret Maria Uebber, as her mission in the Republic of Moldova concludes.
The official thanked Ambassador Uebber for Germany's support in advancing the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
“I also expressed gratitude for her active role in deepening political dialogue and expanding bilateral cooperation,” said Mihai Popșoi.
Additionally, the minister highlighted that during her term, Moldovan-German relations experienced remarkable development, reflected in visits to Chisinau by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Federal Foreign Minister, as well as through Germany's active involvement in Moldova Partnership Platform.
“Ambassador Uebber stood out for her support of democratic reforms, public administration modernization, local development and support for vulnerable groups. She also promoted important projects in security, transportation and energy,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany were established on April 30, 1992. Currently, there are 80 bilateral treaties signed and 21 draft agreements on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion, customs, cultural cooperation, combating organized crime, industrial and energy collaboration, education, security, and technical and financial cooperation between the two countries.
