
Prime Minister after Nicușor Dan's victory in Romania's presidential elections: We are strong when we unite for European future
Prime Minister Dorin Recean congratulates independent candidate in Romania's presidential elections Nicușor Dan for his victory in the election and thanks the Moldovans with Romanian citizenship who participated in the elections.
"Congratulations, Nicușor Dan for being elected as President of Romania! Thank you to all Moldovans with Romanian citizenship, both in the country and abroad, who went out to vote and demonstrated once again that we are strong when we unite for a European future, in peace and freedom," the prime minister wrote on his Facebook account.
President Maia Sandu also sent a congratulatory message, emphasizing that the Republic of Moldova will walk alongside Romania on the European path.

According to provisional results, Nicușor Dan received votes from 5,968,417 Romanian citizens or 53.99%. His opponent, the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, received 5,086,305 votes or 46.01%. Voter turnout was 11,641,866 or 64.72%.
Moldovans with Romanian citizenship showed unprecedented mobilization in the runoff presidential election. Over the three voting days, more than 158,000 people cast their votes at polling stations in our country. This figure is a record and significantly surpasses the about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship who voted in the first round of the Romanian presidential elections, held two weeks ago.
