Romanian Embassy in Moldova says creation of Relations with Romania Service strengthens bilateral cooperation

The creation of a service dedicated to relations with Romania at the Foreign Affairs Ministry has been welcomed by the Romanian Embassy in Moldova, following today’s decision of the Moldovan government.

According to the diplomatic mission, the initiative represents “a natural and welcome step” in strengthening the strategic cooperation between Romania and Moldova, reflecting the advanced level of the bilateral partnership and the need for more efficient coordination, in the context of boosted political dialogue and Chisinau’s European path.

“Institutionalizing a mechanism dedicated to relations with Romania confirms the importance that Chisinau attaches to this privileged partnership,” the Embassy’s message reads, emphasizing that Romania stays a strong supporter of the reforms and modernization of Moldova.

The government today approved a draft decision providing for the creation of the Relations with Romania Service at the Foreign Relations Ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi said that the new structure was necessary to enable more efficient management of the bilateral relationship, given that, until now, a single official has been covering more states simultaneously.
