
Ion Munteanu resigns as Prosecutor General
Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova Ion Munteanu has submitted his resignation. The press service of the institution confirmed the information.
The request was signed after President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu published a decree in the early morning appointing Ion Munteanu as a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice.
Ion Munteanu was officially appointed Prosecutor General on 1 June 2024, after serving as interim in this position since October 2022. He has been working in the prosecutor's office since 2006, later working at the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, as well as within Chişinău Prosecutor's Office. In 2019–2020 and 2021–2022, he held the position of interim deputy chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
