MEC to develop digital platform with free access to teaching resources in Gagauz language
The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) will develop a digital platform with free access to teaching resources in the Gagauz language, intended for everyone who wishes to learn the language or improve the communication skills. It will include dictionaries, fiction literature, historical works, and other relevant educational materials.
It is included in the National Action Plan for Learning and Promoting the Gagauz Language in the Autonomous Region for 2026–2027, which has been approved by the MEC. The document sets out a coherent framework of interventions aimed at strengthening the use and development of the Gagauz language in Gagauzia.
Thus, the plan provides for supporting and developing the Gagauz language at all levels of the education system, from early education to general, vocational-technical, and higher education. It also sets out concrete measures such as: drafting and updating teaching materials, strengthening the professional competences of teaching staff through continuous training programs, organizing summer camps for students, conducting best-practice internships for teachers and students, as well as implementing information and awareness campaigns on the role of the Gagauz language in preserving and promoting ethnic identity.
MEC will support the learning of the Gagauz language for the adult population through a program structured by language proficiency levels A1–C2, in accordance with European standards. The program will contribute to expanding lifelong learning opportunities and increasing the use of the Gagauz language in public and professional spheres.
The measures included in the National Action Plan for Learning and Promoting the Gagauz Language in Gagauzia cover the years 2026–2027.
