Meteorologists issue Yellow Code of long-lasting rain in Moldova
Meteorologists today issued a Yellow Code warning for long-lasting rain. The warning will be in effect all over Moldova on October 7 and 8.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), on the concerned period, continuous rain is expected, with accumulated water amounts reaching 15–49 l/m², with 50–90 l/m² in some regions.
Meteorologists warn that heavy rain in a short period can cause water accumulation in low areas, increased levels in small rivers, runoff from slopes and possible traffic difficulties.
Under these conditions, the SHS urges citizens and local authorities to take precautionary measures, in order to reduce risks and advises drivers to exercise caution on roads hit by heavy precipitation.
