Mother and Child Institute received modern equipment thanks to Japan's support
The Mother and Child Institute in Chișinău has been endowed with state-of-the-art medical equipment thanks to a project supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Moldova. The total value of the support provided exceeds 15 million lei.
At the event, Institute's director Sergiu Gladun said that this investment is an example of solidarity and shared responsibility for the health of mothers and children in the country.
"Thanks to joint efforts, we have managed to modernize several areas of our institution and strengthen medical capacity. We received high-performance ultrasound machines, equipment for endoscopy, medical furniture, and special devices for the care of newborns with severe respiratory conditions," he said.
These facilities will save lives, allow for faster interventions, and ensure safer conditions for both patients and medical staff.
During the event, Health Minister Ala Nemerenco emphasized the importance of the partnership with Japan.
"The Republic of Moldova has in Japan a reliable strategic partner, which has constantly supported us in the reform and modernization process of the medical system. Japan's investments result in faster diagnosis, more effective treatment, and better conditions for all those who reach hospitals," the official stated.
The minister thanked Japan for its generous support, including in the context of recent crises generated by the war in Ukraine. She appreciated Japan's commitment to modernizing the medical infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova and reiterated the desire to continue this cooperation.
The event was attended by President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tanaka Akihiko and Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova Yoichiro Yamada, who reaffirmed the country's commitment to supporting the development of Moldova's medical system.
