Over 17,000 citizens employed with support of Moldova's National Employment Agency

Over 17,000 individuals have been employed through the local branches of the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) since the beginning of this year.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said that this was the best result in the last ten years and the authorities would continue their efforts to help more people find jobs.

“The results of this year confirm the ongoing effort of the ANOFM team to be close to the people. Each person who finds a job represents a success, a more stable family and a stronger economy. We will continue to strengthen local partnerships and modernize services, so that more citizens can benefit from the agency's support and find a suitable job,” said Alexei Buzu.

Out of the 17,095 individuals employed, 7,937 are women (46.4 per cent), 2,846 – people aged 55 and over (16.6 per cent), 196 – persons with disabilities (1.1 per cent), 111 – returned migrants from abroad (0.6 per cent) and 59 – people of Roma ethnicity.

Citizens have been employed in various economic sectors, such as: 34.8 per cent – collective, social and personal service activities; 13.0 per cent – agriculture; 11.5 per cent – industry; 11.4 per cent – wholesale and retail trade; 9.1 per cent – construction; 5.5 per cent – public administration; 4.6 per cent – education; 3.9 per cent – health and social assistance; and 1.6 per cent – transportation, storage and communications.

ANOFM recommends that individuals seeking employment visit one of the employment sector's local branches to receive support in finding a job. The services are free and available both to those looking for a job (with and without unemployment status) and to those who are employed, but want to change jobs.
