
USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" maintains national leadership in SCImago 2025 rankings
The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu" of the Republic of Moldova maintains its first place nationally in SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2025.
According to data published on the official website scimagoir.com, the institution has made significant progress across all evaluation categories, advancing by 349 positions globally among the 5051 included universities, reaching 2751st place and by 39 positions in the ranking of Eastern European universities, reaching 168th place.
In the national ranking, the university has surpassed the Academy of Sciences, the State University and the Technical University.
In SCImago global top institutions in the field of medicine, USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" ranks 4701st among 5633 institutions and 213th among the 341 present in Eastern Europe. The best positions, compared to other universities, the institution achieves in the fields of: Public and Occupational Health – 563rd globally and 8th in Eastern Europe; Infectious Diseases – 1499th globally and 81st among institutions in the Eastern European region; Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology – 1768th globally and 105th among institutions in Eastern Europe; Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutical – 1864th globally and 122nd in the Eastern European region.
SCImago is a ranking of higher education and research institutions, classified by a composite indicator, which combines three sets of indicators based on research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and societal impact (20%) measured by web visibility.
In the General SCImago ranking, USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" ranks 6402nd globally.
USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" was first included in this ranking in 2023.
