
Moldova has new Deputy PM, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization
Doina Nistor has been officially appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, after being sworn in today. The new minister has extensive experience in the field of economic development and digital transformation.
Doina Nistor holds a PhD in Economics and Management from the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) and has pursued advanced studies in Leadership and Management at Arizona State University. Throughout her career, she has led major projects funded by the American, Swedish and British governments, which have significantly impacted the competitiveness and digitalization of key sectors, such as information and communications technologies, tourism, wine-making, light industry, engineering, cybersecurity and creative industries.
As a project director, Doina Nistor has supervised large teams of experts and managed budgets exceeding 100 million euros, focusing on attracting investments, supporting entrepreneurship and implementing innovative digital solutions. She has also contributed to the development of national policies and strategies in the fields of digitalization, e-commerce and sectoral development.
The new minister is also an active member of key institutional boards, including the Investment Agency, Moldova Innovation Technology Park, the Institutional Strategic Development Council of UTM, the National Institute for Education and Leadership, United States Agency for International Development and the East-European Foundation.
Doina Nistor took office as minister after Dumitru Alaiba had announced his resignation on March 13.
