Moldova's EU accession negotiations progress quickly

Moldova’s negotiations on accession to the European Union are progressing quickly and represent a great achievement. Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov has made statements to this effect one year after the establishment of the European Integration Bureau (EIB). Gherasimov described this governmental structure she leads as a locomotive of accession.

From a modest start, with only 13 employees working from improvised offices and with personal equipment, the institution has developed into a team of over 40 dedicated specialists, ‘’who work day and night, on weekends and holidays, so that the benefits of accession can be felt.’’

Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov emphasized that the progress towards European integration was the result of a joint effort and the EIB would continue to work till achieving this national goal.

‘’The EIB is the locomotive of integration, but we are not moving alone on this path. We work together with all institutions and people who believe in the European future of our country. Every step forward is the result of the joint effort of the entire society. And we will continue, at the same pace, till the national objective enshrined in the Constitution becomes a reality!'

Gherasimov appreciated that Moldova's negotiations for European Union accession were progressing rapidly and represented a great achievement. In record time, Moldova has gone through an advanced stage and in the coming months, the second governmental conference for opening the first group of chapters – cluster 1, might take place.

There is openness and willingness in Brussels to speed up the negotiations, the deputy prime minister emphasized.

The European Integration Bureau (EIB) is a governmental institution of Moldova, created to coordinate and support the country's European integration process. Its main role is to facilitate the implementation of necessary reforms, in order to adjust  Moldova's legislation and institutions to the standards of the European Union (EU).
