Denmark supports Moldova's European path

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristian Gherasimov had a meeting with a delegation from the European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament, led by Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel. Discussions focused on the state of accession negotiations, goals for 2025, necessary reforms and internal political developments.

Gherasimov emphasized Denmark's support for Moldova's European path and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and the trust relationship between the two countries.

“Denmark firmly supports our path towards the European Union. We are working to strengthen the cooperation, friendship, and trust relationship we have with this EU member state.”

Gherasimov said that the meeting with the Danish delegation addressed the current situation of accession negotiations, the goals for 2025, internal political developments and the necessary reforms.

“I discussed with a delegation from the European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament, led by Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel, the head of the Parliamentary Committee about the stage we are at in the negotiations and how much we aim to advance on the European agenda in 2025, the political developments at home and the reform agenda,.”

The Danish delegation was received in Chișinău by President Maia Sandu. During the discussions, topics related to Moldova's EU accession and the measures necessary to strengthen the country's resilience against external challenges were addressed.

Denmark will take over the chairmanship of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2025. The Danish government supports the development of our country through involvement in energy efficiency projects, promotion of independent media, strengthening of electoral process integrity and enhancing democracy.
