Moldova not alone in 'uncertain security context'

The visit of the President of the European Council, António Costa, to Chișinău is a strong signal of the European Union support for Moldova's European path. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov said in a social media post.

Cristina Gherasimov also mentioned that the high official's visit to Chișinău is a sign that the Republic of Moldova is not alone in an 'uncertain security context.'

'His visit is a strong signal that the European Union supports our European path and that they await us in the Great European Family, where citizens live in peace and prosperity. Moldova is not alone today in this uncertain security context in our region.'

António Costa is in Chișinău at the invitation of President Maia Sandu. The visit takes place three years after the Republic of Moldova submitted its application to join the European Union and reaffirms the EU's support for our country's European path. António Costa and Maia Sandu participated in a dialogue with society representatives about the European future of the Republic of Moldova. The European official will also have meetings at the Government and Parliament.

On March 3, 2022, the Republic of Moldova submitted its application to join the European Union. Since then, EU accession has become a national objective for the Republic of Moldova. The government and state institutions are working to meet the necessary conditions for accession.
