Moldova's farmers to benefit from refund of land tax from accumulated value added tax

The parliament has adopted a draft law which provides for the refund of the land tax amount for the year 2024, declared by agricultural producers from the accumulated value added tax (VAT). Fifty eight lawmakers voted the draft law in the second reading.

The legislative initiative, developed by a MP of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), head of the agriculture and food industry commission Alexandr Trubca, aims to support farmers by improving the situation in the agricultural sector.

According to the author, this measure will help reduce the decapitalization of the agricultural sector, which has been severely affected in recent years by logistical crises, the fertilizers’ crisis and the severe drought last summer.

In addition to the land tax refund, the draft also provides for the change of the implementation deadline of the VAT Refund Program for agricultural producers. According to the new regulations, the refund will be made till June 2026 inclusively.
