
Private people have right to bring limitless sums of national, foreign currencies in cash when entering Moldova
Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - Private persons have right to bring limitless sums in Moldovan lei in cash, as well as foreign currencies in cash and traveler’s cheques when entering Moldova. The provisions relate to the law on currency regulation, due to be published in Moldova’s Official Journal on 9 December.
Under the document, persons exiting Moldova can take national currency in cash, as well as foreign currency in cash and traveler’s cheques worth more than 10,000 euros (or its equivalent); yet, this sum must not exceed 50,000 euros (or its equivalent) per person/travel.
At the same time, for the sums exceeding 10,000 euros (or its equivalent), people should present to customs bodies the confirmative documents: customs acts confirming the introduction of the money into the country and/or the permissions for taking the money out of Moldova, issued by licenced banks or the permits issued by the National Bank of Moldova.
The law on currency regulation enters into force at the expiration of the period of six-month following the publication date (June 2017).
