Strășeni–Gutinaș power line project is making progress, and the feasibility study will be presented in late April in Chișinău, announced today Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States Vlad Kulminski, following meetings at the U.S. Department of State.

According to the diplomat, the discussions also included a meeting with Kirsten Selinger, Acting Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia, during which developments in the energy project were reviewed.

“Strășeni–Gutinaș power line project is moving forward. There are important developments. At the end of this month, in Chișinău, the draft feasibility study prepared by Black & Veatch will be presented,” Kulminski said.

The ambassador noted that construction work is expected to begin in 2027, with the project scheduled for completion in 2030.

“This project is a strategic investment by the United States and a clear sign that the U.S. sees Moldova’s potential and has confidence in our relationship,” the official underlined.

According to him, Chișinău authorities intend to expand cooperation with American investors in the energy sector.

“We want to open up even more opportunities for American energy companies, in Moldova and through Moldova, across the entire region,” added Vlad Kulminski.

Strășeni–Gutinaș high-voltage power line, a project supported by the United States through $130 million in funding, is a strategic investment for modernizing the energy infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova.

The project will help strengthen the country’s energy security and will involve the expertise of American companies in the sector. With a total length of approximately 190 kilometers, about 70 km of which will be on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and 120 km on the territory of Romania, this will become the third 400 kV power line between the two states.
