President Maia Sandu today took part in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held in Antalya, Turkey, at an invitation by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On the sidelines of the event, the head of state had more official meetings with the presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
President Maia Sandu discussed the regional security with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"We had a productive discussion. We talked about regional security, increasing trade and investment opportunities between Moldova and Turkey. We also discussed about the Gagauzia region, which links our countries and represents a bridge for deeper cooperation," Maia Sandu said.
The Moldovan head of state also had a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
"Azerbaijan is a strong partner — in the field of energy and regional stability. We discussed deepening our bilateral relations and our common interest in peace and prosperity," Maia Sandu noted.
Also, on the sidelines of the event, Maia Sandu met President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar. The discussion’s agenda included the topic of European integration.
"As Moldova advances on the path to joining the European Union, Slovenia is a reliable friend and ally," Maia Sandu emphasized.
Today, the head of state also discussed with President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović, the experience in the process of accession to the European Union.
"We exchanged experiences regarding our European path — the progress made and the work that still needs to be done. The more of us embark on this road, the stronger we become," Maia Sandu stressed.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum brings together political leaders, diplomats and international experts and provides a platform for dialogue on regional and global challenges. The event’s agenda includes bilateral meetings between heads of state and government from the region.
