Parliament hosts Euronest PA meetings with delegations from EU and Eastern Partnership

The meetings of the standing committees and the Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly are taking place at the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova from 21–22 April 2026, with the participation of parliamentary delegations from the Member States of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership.

According to the Parliament’s Communication and Public Relations Department, the opening session is scheduled for 22 April, at 10:30, in the plenary chamber. Speeches will be delivered by Speaker Igor Grosu, the head of the Parliament’s delegation to the Euronest PA, Adrian Băluțel, as well as the co-chairs of the Euronest PA – Maria Karapetyan, representing the Eastern partners, and Sergey Lagodinsky, on behalf of the European Parliament.

On the sidelines of the meeting, several sessions of the standing committees are being organized. The Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy will examine security within the Eastern Partnership, including countering hybrid warfare, safeguarding the integrity of elections and strengthening institutions in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

The Committee on Energy Security will discuss the efficiency of energy flows, the development of renewable energy markets and the potential role of small modular reactors in strengthening energy independence. Other meetings focus on economic integration, legislative harmonization with EU policies, as well as social, educational and cultural issues.

The delegations’ agenda includes meetings with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, with the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, and with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Chisinau, Iwona Piórko.

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was established in Brussels on 3 May 2011, with the mission of promoting political association and economic integration between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership states, as well as strengthening regional cooperation, according to official information.
