Moldovan government led by PM Vasile Tofan takes oath of office
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and the members of the cabinet of ministers took the oath of office today. The ceremony took place in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, at the Presidency of Moldova.
President Maia Sandu congratulated the new government team and emphasized that, for the coming period, the agenda stayed focused on aligning Moldova with European Union standards, advancing the European integration process and implementing the major-impact reforms that have been initiated. The head of state also highlighted as priorities economic development, improving the business environment and the management of public property, the efficient absorption of European funds, strengthening state security and the resilience of society as a whole.
“People are the most important resource of our country, which is why we are focusing on education, culture, health, social protection and, of course, environmental policies. It is clear that the agenda is quite ambitious, expectations are high, and all these things must happen in a regional and international context that is becoming increasingly complicated. I have full confidence that together we will succeed. Good luck!”, added President Maia Sandu.
The sworn-in cabinet of ministers has 16 members and 14 ministries. The position of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization will be held by Eugen Osmochescu; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development – by Vladimir Bolea; Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration – Cristina Gherasimov; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs – Mihai Popsoi; and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration – Valeriu Chiveri.
The Ministry of Education and Research will be headed by Dan Perciun, the Interior Ministry – by Daniella Misail-Nichitin, the Ministry of Energy – by Dorin Junghietu, the Ministry of Justice – by Vladislav Cojuhari, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection – by Natalia Plugaru, the Ministry of the Environment – by Gheorghe Hajder and the Ministry of Defense – by Anatolie Nosatii.
At the same time, Victoria Belous will take over the leadership of the Ministry of Finance, Alexandru Gasnas – of the Ministry of Health, Radu Musteata – of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, while the Ministry of Culture will be headed by Dan Suruceanu.
The government led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan on July 21 received the parliament’s vote of confidence, with the votes of 53 MPs.
