Prime ministers of Romania, Ukraine send congratulations after swearing-in of new Moldova's government

The prime ministers of Romania and Ukraine have sent congratulatory messages after a new government, led by Vasile Tofan, was sworn in in Chisinau. The officials reaffirmed their support for the country’s European path and for the strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Romania’s interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan reconfirmed Bucharest’s commitment to support Moldova. He underlined the need to advance the implementation of projects on the bilateral agenda, from interconnection in transport and energy to the ones in the fields of culture and education.

“I congratulate and wish every success to new Prime Minister of Moldova Vasile Tofan, and I assure him of the full support and cooperation of Romania’s government. It is important that we continue to advance the projects we have on the bilateral agenda, from the ones on interconnection in transport and energy to those in the fields of culture and education,” said Ilie Bolojan.

At the same time, the official welcomed Chisinau’s progress in the EU accession process and reconfirmed that “Romania stays its most active and devoted supporter.”

For his part, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi sent a congratulatory message to Vasile Tofan and the new government of Moldova, stressing the importance of cooperation between the two states and of their shared goal of European integration. The official advocated for deepening the partnership, expanding cross-border cooperation, strengthening energy resilience and improving connectivity between the two countries.

“Sincere congratulations to Vasile Tofan and the new government of Moldova. Your appointment as Prime Minister reflects Moldova’s continued commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and to our common future in the European Union. I look forward to working closely with your government, in order to deepen the partnership between our countries, expand cross-border cooperation, strengthen energy resilience, as well as improve connectivity between our states. I wish you much success in carrying out this important responsibility,” said the prime minister in Kyiv.

The new cabinet of ministers, led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, today took the oath of office at the Presidency of Moldova, in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The ceremony took place, after the parliament granted a vote of confidence to the Tofan government on July 21 evening and approved the governing programme, European Economy, Efficient State.
