Moldovan government expands model school network
The model school network will be expanded by adding another 15 units. They will undergo major renovations and will be endowed with modern equipment and furniture, for which 35 million euros will be allocated. The government has approved the signing of the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe's Development Bank to provide a loan of 30 million euros.
The funding will ensure the rehabilitation and arrangement of 15 schools and their adjacent grounds. Specifically, energy efficiency measures will be implemented, and access conditions will be ensured for people with reduced mobility. Also, the auxiliary infrastructure, including water and sewage networks will be modernized.
The measures will contribute to creating a safe learning environment, reducing school dropout rates and increasing participation in the educational process for children from vulnerable groups. At the same time, the project will support attracting and retaining teaching staff in the system, especially in rural areas. In total, 90 model schools will be created in all districts and municipalities in the Republic of Moldova.
