New cabinet of ministers takes oath before President of Moldova
The members of the new government, led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, today took the oath of office before President Maia Sandu, during a ceremony held at the Presidency.
In her message, the head of state emphasized the responsibility entrusted to the cabinet of ministers at a decisive stage for Moldova, marked by the need to accelerate the European path, boost the economy and strengthen security and the rule of law. “The agenda is clear – we must continue aligning Moldova with European standards. In the next few months, we must achieve key milestones in the process of European integration. In the coming weeks and months, we must also complete more reforms with major impact,” the president underlined.
Maia Sandu highlighted that the new cabinet had the mission to fulfil its ambitious commitments in the economic field. “We have heard bold promises regarding the stimulation of economic development, the improvement of the business environment, better administration of public property and better absorption of European funds. We ask you to keep your word,” said the head of state.
At the same time, the Moldovan president stressed that the implementation of reforms must be accompanied by sustained efforts to strengthen the state’s capacity to protect its citizens: “We must focus on the safety of citizens and the security of the state, and this means sustained efforts to strengthen institutions in the fields of defence, security, public order, justice, energy security and the resilience of society as a whole.”
Maia Sandu also referred to areas that have a direct impact on citizens’ well-being: “People represent the most important resource of our country – that is why we place emphasis on education, culture, health, social protection and, of course, environmental policies,” the president noted.
In conclusion, the head of state expressed confidence that the government would succeed in achieving it’s the goals assumed. “The agenda is very ambitious, expectations are high – and it is clear that all this has to happen in an increasingly complex regional and international context. I personally have full confidence that, together with parliament and with the support of the Presidency, this government will succeed,” the Moldovan president concluded.
