
Moldovan president participates in funeral of Pope Francis, alongside other leaders
President Maia Sandu today attended the funeral of His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican, alongside numerous world leaders.
In her message, President Sandu paid tribute to the spiritual leader who had been a source of faith and hope for generations by promoting goodness, compassion and solidarity. "Pope Francis was a bridge between people, religions and nations. On behalf of the citizens of Moldova, I paid tribute to him who always chose the path of goodness, compassion and solidarity," the head of state said.
More than 100 delegations from around the world were present at the funeral, gathered to pay their final respects to His Holiness. Thus, Moldova joins the international community in honoring the memory of a spiritual leader who inspired millions of people.
