Prime Minister Vasile Tofan welcomed participants in Chișinău Marathon 2026 today, an event bringing together more than 10,000 participants from over 59 countries in the capital.

The Prime Minister praised the energy and spirit of unity created by the event and wished success and courage to everyone present at the starting line: “It is a great source of pride to see so many people who, despite the rain and the cold, decided to run through the streets of Chișinău today. Moreover, alongside participants from the Republic of Moldova, we have participants from 59 countries.”

The Prime Minister also addressed a message to participants from abroad, encouraging them to discover our country beyond the sporting event—to taste Moldovan wines and traditional dishes and enjoy their time in the Republic of Moldova.

Chișinău Marathon includes the marathon race—42.195 km, the half marathon—21 km, as well as 10 km, 5 km and Fun Run races—1.5 km. The program also includes races for wheelchair athletes over distances of 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. One day earlier, on September 12, Kids Run Day took place, dedicated to children aged between 5 and 14.

Organized in its current format since 2015, the Chișinău Marathon has become one of the most important mass sporting events in the Republic of Moldova, bringing together professionals, amateurs and families. The event encourages participation in sports and an active lifestyle and helps increase the visibility of Chișinău and the Republic of Moldova on the international sports competition map.
