CEC President: Moldova reaffirms democratic commitment today by holding parliamentary elections - crucial moment for country's future

Today Moldova reaffirms its democratic commitment by holding parliamentary elections - a crucial moment for the country's future. The message was conveyed by President of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Angelica Caraman, who announced that the voting process has begun in all polling stations across the country and in several stations abroad.

The CEC leadership announced that voters are expected at the 2,274 polling stations, of which 1,973 are open on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, including 12 stations for residents from the left bank of the Dniester, and 301 polling stations organized abroad, four of which are dedicated to postal voting.

“In the polling stations established abroad, the voting process started at local time 07:00, with no issues reported. The polling stations abroad will remain open until 21:00, local time in each country. Thus, the voting process is underway in Japan, where the first voter has cast vote. Additionally, voting is already taking place in over 30 other polling stations in China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Israel, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, and European countries in our time zone: Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and others,” said Caraman.

Over 3.6 million ballots have been printed, of which 865,000 were distributed to stations abroad. The ballot includes 23 electoral candidates.

Media institutions, observers, electoral competitors, and all voters can get information about the voting progress on pv.cec.md. After the closure of polling stations and the completion of reports, preliminary results will be available here.
