Larisa Miculeț to assume role of acting head of Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ireland
Larisa Miculeț will assume the role of acting head of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ireland. The announcement was made today by Larisa Miculeț, who emphasized that she will continue, together with the team of the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to contribute to strengthening dialogue and coordination between the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and those of Ireland, in support of our country’s European objectives.
Larisa Miculeț said she will take over the position in an especially important context – Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
“It has been a great honor to work, over the last year, in President Maia Sandu’s team as Presidential Adviser. Sometimes, however, life brings you back exactly where you can contribute the most, at an important stage for the country. One year after my return to the Republic of Moldova, I will go again, for a period, to Ireland, as acting head of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova, in an especially important context — Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union,” announced Larisa Miculeț.
She stressed that she is returning to a country with which the Republic of Moldova has built, in recent years, a solid and dynamic bilateral partnership, while also benefiting from significant political support for our European agenda.
“Together with the team of the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I will continue to contribute to strengthening dialogue and coordination between the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and those of Ireland, in support of our country’s European objectives. In the coming months, important decisions will be taken in Ireland for our region and for the European future of the Republic of Moldova. In order to be heard, our message must reach the most important decision-makers, and the relationships built over time and mutual trust can matter enormously in such moments,” said Miculeț.
Until now, Larisa Miculeț has held the position of Presidential Adviser. She has twenty years of professional experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The official has served as Ambassador to Israel, Cyprus and Ireland, as well as Deputy Representative at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations in New York.
“All these experiences give me today the necessary preparation to contribute where the country’s needs are greatest. The experience gained as Presidential Adviser has offered me a deeper perspective on the priorities and mechanisms through which the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova is promoted, and I am convinced that this will matter greatly in the stage ahead. I have accepted this responsibility with gratitude, a sense of duty, and a sincere desire to continue contributing where I can be of the greatest use,” concluded Larisa Miculeț.
The position of Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ireland was held until recently by Jana Costachi, who was recalled at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
