Lithuania’s support for advancing European path of Moldova reconfirmed in Chisinau

The full support of Lithuania for advancing the European path of Moldova, in view of the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will begin on 1 January 2027, has been reiterated in Chisinau at a meeting between State Secretary of Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Carolina Perebinos and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas of Lithuania.

State Secretary Carolina Perebinos expressed gratitude for the technical and political support provided to Moldova by Lithuania, both in the process of advancing on the path of European integration and implementing domestic reforms, as well as in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The sides highlighted the excellent level of Moldovan-Lithuanian relations in all areas, as well as the compatibility of their visions, experiences and shared challenges.

During the discussions, the officials addressed the progress made by Moldova in the process of accession to the European Union, as well as issues related to regional security and the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict.

A delegation of members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Lithuania’s  Seimas is paying a visit to Moldova on February 23-25. The delegation is headed by Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Remigijus Motuzas.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Lithuania were established on 8 July 1992. To date, 49 bilateral agreements have been signed and are in force between the two countries.
