President: We will always be grateful to Ukrainians for defending our peace and freedom and that of all Europe
President Maia Sandu delivered a message on four years since the beginning of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. In this context, the head of state evoked the courage of Ukrainians to stand up to the aggression: “At the dawn of a day that changed history, Ukraine chose to resist. And it has remained standing. The determination of the Ukrainian people is a light for the entire free world,” the President stressed.
“We bow before the memory of those who lost their lives in these four years of war. We share the pain of those who have lost someone dear. We carry in our memory the suffering of those who were wounded or fled from the path of weapons. We do not forget the torment of prisoners of war tortured and humiliated in captivity,” Maia Sandu said.
The President also underlined the gratitude that our country owes to Ukraine, as well as the importance of a just peace. “We will always be grateful to the Ukrainians for defending our peace and freedom and that of all Europe. Ukraine deserves a just peace. And we will support Ukraine with solidarity,” the head of state emphasized.
