Government earmarked over 185 million lei for projects in capital’s suburbs
The Government has allocated in recent years over 185 million lei for projects in the capital’s suburbs and has supported the implementation of several initiatives in favor of the residents of the municipality of Chișinău. The data were presented by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who today held a discussion with 16 mayors from Chișinău’s suburbs. The official emphasized the shared responsibility to manage public money efficiently, transparently and in a balanced way, and to jointly find the most appropriate solutions for citizens’ needs.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the suburbs are developing rapidly, and this dynamic is, to a large extent, the merit of the mayors who work on the front line for their communities.
“Today, at the Government, I discussed with 16 mayors from Chișinău’s suburbs about the major projects we are building together and which the residents of the capital and the metropolitan area see every day. The suburbs are developing rapidly, and this dynamic is, to a large extent, the merit of the mayors who work on the front line for their communities,” said Munteanu.
According to the official, in recent years the Government has allocated over 185 million lei for projects in the suburbs, invested 950 million lei in the city’s hospitals, provided free meals for middle school students, and initiated the renovation of dormitories and universities in the capital.
“The Chișinău Beltway – already under construction, repaired roads and courtyards, modernized hospitals, equipped schools and kindergartens, expanded water and sewerage systems – these are concrete investments through which the Government supports the growth of the suburbs and assists local public administrations throughout the country,” added Alexandru Munteanu, who thanked the mayors for their partnership, perseverance, and for the way they turn every public leu into visible results for people.
At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed that they also work together in emergency situations. Thus, last night, wherever help was needed, teams from the National Army, the Police, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) and the General Inspectorate of Carabineer intervened rapidly.
“We share a common responsibility: to manage public money efficiently, transparently and in a balanced way. Today’s meeting had precisely this purpose – to find, together with the mayors, the most suitable solutions for the needs of people in our communities. I thank all the mayors who came for this discussion, because people expect genuine cooperation and real solutions,” he concluded.
The municipality of Chișinău has 18 suburbs.
