Moldovans abroad can register to vote in parliamentary elections

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova living abroad can register online to vote in the parliamentary elections on 28 September.

The Central Electoral Commission has launched the online platform Pre- registration (https://inregistrare.cec.md/) for eligible voters wishing to participate in the parliamentary elections on 28 September 2025, while being out of the country.

Registrations can be carried out until 14 August 2025, at 23:59 (Moldovan time), by visiting the website inregistrare.cec.md.

Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă said that preliminary registration is important as the CEC determines the number and location of polling stations under the registrations. "Without registration, it might be harder to have a nearby polling station," said Daniel Vodă.

According to him, citizens who registered in previous elections and have not changed their location do not need to repeat the procedure. "If you registered in the last elections and have not changed your location, THERE IS NO NEED to do it again," Daniel Vodă said.

The countries where most Moldovans have registered so far include Italy - over 23,000; the United Kingdom - over 16,000; Germany - 15,000; Russia - 14,000; France - 9,300; Romania - 7,200; Ireland - 5,300; the USA - 4,600; Spain - 3,200; Canada - 2,600.

Statistics shows that in previous polls, over 113,000 Moldovans from 87 countries and 5,300 localities already registered.

Pre-registration is an optional procedure through which Moldovan citizens with voting rights announce their intention to vote in a specific locality abroad. Voters expressing their intention to exercise their vote abroad for the elections for which the application is activated will be excluded from the main electoral list. The procedure is conducted to determine the estimated number of voters intending to vote abroad on election day and contributes to the decision to establish polling stations abroad.
