Moldovan president reaffirms support for Ukraine after failed White House talks between Trump and Zelenski

President Maia Sandu reacted after the failed discussions at the White House between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenski. The head of state reaffirmed Moldova's support for Ukraine.

“The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine is defending its freedom and ours. We stand with Ukraine,” wrote Maia Sandu on Platform X.

Reactions in support of Zelenski, following the tense discussions at the White House, came from President of France, as well as Prime Ministers of Spain and Poland.

There is a Russian “aggressor” and an “aggressed,” he began by telling journalists, before deciding:

“We must respect those who have been fighting from the beginning,” Macron said, cited by Digi24.ro.

“Dear Zelenski, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone,” wrote Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Platform X.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez joined the list of European leaders who offered support and solidarity with Ukraine following the conflict between Trump, Vance and Zelenski.

“Ukraine, Spain stands with you,” the Spanish Prime Minister said.

Upcoming German Chancellor Friedrich Merz assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski of his ‘support’ after his altercation with Donald Trump, urging never to confuse the aggressor and the victim in this terrible war, according to AFP.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's adviser reacted to the recorded heated exchange in Oval Office between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski and American President Donald Trump using a single word: “Historic,” Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's special envoy wrote on X, reports CNN and News.ro.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski left the White House early on Friday after the meeting with American President Donald Trump turned into a dispute in front of the cameras, international news agencies report, according to Agerpres.

In a post-meeting message on his social network Truth Social, Trump accused Zelenski of disrespect for the USA and told him he could return for a meeting when he “is ready for peace.”

The discussion between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenski took a difficult turn, writes the international press. At one point, Trump told Zelenski he needed to “be grateful” and cautioned him that “he was playing with World War III,” according to The Guardian.
