Alegeri parlamentare 2025

President: Today - time when we must prove love for country. Let's all go out and vote, tomorrow might be too late

Today is a moment when we must prove our love for the country. Let's all go out and vote, tomorrow might be too late. President Maia Sandu conveyed the message today after voting.

The official said she voted for a Parliament with which we can continue to maintain peace, further build a European Moldova that respects the Republic of Moldova and its citizens.

“Dear citizens, I invite you all to go vote. Moldova, our dear home, is in danger and needs the help of each one of you. Today you can save it with your vote, tomorrow it might be too late. Your vote has to decide the fate of our country, not the bought votes. Let's show the world that the Republic of Moldova is not only a small country with a big heart but also a country with dignified people, people who do not sell their country for neither 400 lei nor 400 euros. Let us not allow thieves and traitors to sell our future. The Republic of Moldova is a small but strong country. We march forward, in peace, toward our European future,” stated Maia Sandu.

The head of state spoke about Russia's interference in the context of the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova.

“We all know that the Russian Federation has been heavily involved in the elections in the Republic of Moldova. Both I and our institutions have spoken about various methods, starting from attempts to buy votes, for which hundreds of millions of euros were spent. We spoke about training young people from the Republic of Moldova to organize violence and destabilizing actions. We all saw how Moldovans were recruited and trained to produce and distribute fake content, all this so that Russia could seize power in Chișinău and use the Republic of Moldova for its own purposes. Moldovans must decide for Moldova, and today is the day we must protect our country,” Maia Sandu said.

In the context of potential incidents or violence, the president assured that the state is doing everything to keep people protected and safe. “Do not be afraid, go vote, it's our sovereign right to decide for our country,” Maia Sandu said.

She also mentioned possible alliances in the future Parliament. “Only people who truly believe in the Republic of Moldova and in European values can form a pro-European majority in the next Parliament. This is the only way we can move forward, develop our country, and our communities as citizens desire,” Maia Sandu pointed out.

Additionally, the president called for unity among Moldovans everywhere at this crucial moment for the future path of the country.

“Citizens of the Republic of Moldova, whether in the country or in other parts of the world, all love their country. We want the Republic of Moldova to be safe, and today is a very important moment when we must prove our love for the country and go vote. I thank those who are aware of this danger, and I ask those who have not yet made time and plans to go out and vote. Tomorrow might be too late,” Maia Sandu said.

The citizens of the Republic of Moldova are expected today at the polls to elect representatives in Parliament. Polling stations opened at 7:00 am and will close at 9:00 pm.
